Family Safety

Hi

I am travelling to Nepal in early April with my husband and 3 young children (7,9 and 10). With the coming elections and neighbouring conflict how safe do you think it will be? We are with a guided tour group and will be exploring Kathmandu, Chitwan, Pokhara and Bhaktapur.

Family Safety

I had similar concerns before my trip a year ago (the Maoist had been hassling tourists and such) however, I felt safe in Nepal. We saw many UN vehicles in Kathmandu and there was security at the hotels where we stayed. We probably spent a week in Kathmandu and I never felt threatened in any way. I wish you a safe and fun trip.

Family Safety

Thank you. We are all very excited!

The bombing in Kathmandu today (07 Apr) occurred at a election rallies. No fatalities. They were not targeting tourists.

Do keep in mind that there is currently a Travel Warning in place by the United States. Not sure if Australia has one.

I%26#39;m due in Napal Friday 11 April. Looking forward to visiting this beautiful country. The Nepalese I%26#39;ve met in the USA have been very friendly, and excited to hear that somebody is visiting their country.

hi we went to Nepal last yr with 2 kids 12 %26amp; 10 and were a bit worried

about the maoists but nothing to worry about

we loved chitwan and want to go back next year you will have a fab time and some very greatful kids like we have

have a look at our chitwan pics we have posted - beware they get u up very early for elephnat rides which are great fun

drop me a lne if you got any questions

Have fun - we are going back next year

Wow!

What a great place to take your kids.

High adventure and they get to see how most of the world lives- read ';turkish toilets';.

They%26#39;ll get new perspectives and learn a lot.

Not sure I%26#39;d go with a tour group. Just start on a teahouse trek on your own. Your kids can%26#39;t help but gain new confidence as they climb the trails and meet new people and see amazing siights.

If your kids are a little chunky from sitting in front of the computer all day, watch the pounds melt away and the personalities develop!

What a wise parent you must be!

Several blasts reported in Kathmandu last several days leading up to the elections, but I%26#39;ve not heard of any related fatalities in the capital.

Hopefully things will settle down post-election.

In any case, looking forward to my arrival 11 April!!!

Just arrived this AM.

Man, it%26#39;s quite pleasant. Ride from airport to Lazimpat was only about 15 minutes.

Have a fab time

we wish we were there again - as we loved it

what r u doing there ? is it buisness or pleasure

Just returned yesterday 20 April from Kathmandu / Pokhara / Bhaktapur / Patan / Dhulikhel.

Had a GREAT vacation time!

The only time I felt a little concern for safety was when my wife went paragliding!! (Just kidding...the paragliders are professionals with great track records.)

People are so nice.

Got to see Mt. Everest from the cockpit of a Buddha Air flightseeing flight.

The Kathmandu-based travel company we used did a GREAT job for us!

where did u stay in Pokhara and bhaktapur - we r going back to kathmandu next year and cant wait
