Hi,
We%26#39;re visiting Nepal in November %26#39;07 and need some advice about clothing. We will be trekking from Nayapul to Poon Hill and from Lukla to Thyangboche. Will we need duvet jackets, or will layering up with fleeces, etc, be enough for night-time?
Although we are from England we currently live in Brunei so our bodies aren%26#39;t quite as used to the cold at the moment!
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Clothing for Poon Hill and Thyangboche?
It was November when I went to Poon Hill and didnt need a down jacket. A fleece and the walk up there kept me toastie!
Clothing for Poon Hill and Thyangboche?
Hi,
We will be taking sleeping bags, and also fleeces and waterproofs, but we are in two minds about taking our duvet jackets for the nights when we aren%26#39;t walking and aren%26#39;t in our sleeping bags. How cold does it get (roughly) at Poon Hill and Thyangboche once the sun goes down? (We haven%26#39;t been able to find temperatures for anywhere other than Kathmandu)
Thanks
One thing I would say is that if you are going up Poon Hill, I guess it is for the sunrise; you are likely to spend about an hour standing around (hopefully, going ';ooh'; and ';aah'; like at the best firework displays, waiting for the sun to pick up the next peak and then the next one!!).
Standing around gets cold, and a duvet jacket will keep you warmer then than a fleece etc. They%26#39;re great for evenings too - again, insulation is better when you are inactive then with a fleece.
