Transit visa in Nepal

Hi,

Passing thru Nepal from Lhasa(by plane) to get to Varanasi in early October 2007

Is it feasible to get a plane ticket from Kathmandu to Varanasi without having a regular visa?I understand that as long as you%26#39;re staying 48 hrs or less you can purchase a transit visa only for 5$.

I will probably have to stay over night because the flight schedules do not coincide with each other, which is okay.

If anybody has info about this, I would appreciate hearing about it very much!

Transit visa in Nepal

Hi,

When we passed through Kathmandu in October 2005, we got a free visum at the airport for 3 days. Even If you have to pay, it is no problem, just have some passportphoto%26#39;s spare.M.

Our experience three separate times has been that you still need to get a visa, but if you are staying for three days or less, there is no charge. This would be especially true, if you plan to stay overnight. You just need to bring a couple of passport photos. When you get to Kathmandu, there are visa forms right in the arrivals area. After you fill them out, get in the gratis line. Make sure you have the photos. Last fall we did this two different times. The first was when we arrived in Kathmandu on an Sunday and caught a Tuesday flight to Lhasa. The second was when we crossed into Nepal from Tibet on a Tuesday and departed from Kathmandu on a Wednesday. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for the info! I think I can do this...Now if I can figure the Lhasa -train-permit thing out....But thats another forum!

Thanks again,
