weather in january

I am palninng to visit Nepal for the first time. I will go to KTM and I don%26#39;t have any firm plan where to go and what to see... I was thinking about going to Anapurna curcuit... I have few questions if anyone could help me out...

What is the wather like in KTM in january and february?

Is it worth going to Anapurna since I am not a grat trekker, althoug I hike a lot and spend a lot of time in the nature... I could manage altitudes till 1000m, but I don%26#39;t have nesessary clothes and equipment to go higher.

Which region and what can you suggest me?

Hi there,

I saw your message and used to live in Kathmandu, so thought I%26#39;d help you out. Jan can be quite cold there, getting to be only a few centigrade at night. Days can still be quite hot and usually lovely and clear, but occasionally you%26#39;ll get no sun all day so it can be very cold on those days. But in general it%26#39;s not a bad time to visit Kathmandu. Feb would be a bit warmer.

In terms of trekking, Jan/Feb will be difficult for Annapurna because it%26#39;s very snowy in the mountains at that time. A friend of mine runs a trekking agency called Adventure First (see www.adventurefirstnepal.com) and he may be able to advise you better on where to go.

Hope this helps!

Sarah

weather in january

only just realised you posted this in december and you will already have gone I guess. hope you had fun. :)

January/february is almost ending of winter season and very good time to do Annapurna circuit trek. This trek was not so hard as compare to the Everest. Even children, below the age of 10 had done Annapurna Base camp trek successfully. About the clothes you need a jacket, warm hat and gloves, sunglass, sunblock cream if necessary, paris of shocks, boots, sandle, wollen trouser etc. you don%26#39;t need any specially equipment just take pair of stick.

cheers
