Everest Region Lodges

We%26#39;re going to be doing the Everest Circuit and would prefer camping rather than staying in a lodge but am wondering how cold it will be at night. And do you camp near the lodges? I%26#39;ve read that sleeping at a lodge is difficult because it%26#39;s noisy late into the night (I%26#39;m a very light sleeper). Do most lodges have private rooms, or are they dormitories? And what exactly does ';private room'; mean. I like it be quiet and have my own space especially when in the outdoors. Please share what you did and did not like about the lodges.

Everest Region Lodges

In my experience, I have never found lodges to be noisy late into the night. Nepal is an early to bed, early to rise country, more so in the mountains.

I would always recommend a lodge over camping if available but do check out hygiene, especially water boiling at altitude.

A private room means just that.

You may like private space when in the outdoors but remember Everest is probably the most beautiful and stunning part of the world so you will have to share it with others who want to enjoy it as you do. That is not to say that you cannot get away from it on the trails. Just be careful not to stray from the main routes.

I love lodges. You get to meet fellow travellers who probably share your passions and most importantly get to spend time with local people.

This year I spent a total of 5 weeks camping in Nepal which was great in a group, but loved the time in lodges where available.

If you truly want to get away from the crowds, consider a trek to Dolpo or Mustang in the future. But never pass up the opportunity to spend time in Everest region. My favourite parts of Everest are the valleys leading to Gokyo and Thame and the amazinfg views from Kala Pattar and Gokyo Ri. The Cho La pass is stunning. Namche is also interesting.

I love it, and am getting more envious with every word I write. Have a great time.

i would also prefer camping trek rather than the teahouse. it is not so cold but comparatively little bit colder than the teahouse but it%26#39;s more enjoyable. what i did not like about the lodges is in the peak season its so difficult to get the hotel room, there is no any alternatives in the room to choose among others. for the camping trek you have to prefer registered trekking company, they take all the responsiblity of your terk, they will provide you well trained staff and experienced cook.

cheers
