touring nepal

Hello there, my husband and I (both in our 50s but fairly well travelled )would like to visit Nepal in October going to Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan etc but have found some of the tours from England extremely expensive. The flights are approx £600 at that time of year but wondered if anyone knows of a good touring company I could approach by email before reaching Nepal Hopefully the cost would be a little less if we sorted out the tour with a local firm. thanks

Hi Peg

I have just returned to the UK having spent two months in Nepal. We did two long treks, one through a British agent and the other through an Australian company.

The local companies running these were:

Highland Excursions Nepal Pvt Ltd

PO Box 12733 Baluwater

Kathmandu

Tel 4-413850/4-414783

and

Himalaya Expeditions Inc

PO Box 105

Kathmandu

Tel 4 22 66 22/4 257 257

email: info@himexnepal.com

Contact: Bhanu Sing Thakuri

Both were excellent companies and would be able to sort you out with a tour.

I travelled to Nepal in 2000 and did a trip with a great little company called Happy Adventure, based in Thamel, Kathmandu. Don%26#39;t know if they still exist, if they do, I would recommend all three quite happily.

Good luck. Any other questions from someone who is just off the plane, just post them here.

Hi Peg,

We%26#39;ve been to Nepal, and our trip was organised by Intertours. They also gave me a good price and itinary for Bhutan, which I didn%26#39;t use because of the political problems in Nepal in 2005. Have a look at their site, ask your questions and see if you like the answers. Have a wonderful time in Nepal.
