San Francisco headed to Katmandu

Looking at the cost of flight from SFO to KAT and staying there from October 19-October 27

Where do I fly into there? The places I need to go to for sure is Kathmandu and Butwal.

Hotels suggestions and cost. I am not one that needs luxury but at least clean. $50 to $70 a night would be ok.

Any suggestions would be great.

I went to Kathmandu in April with a group that uses the Royal Singhi Hotel - http://www.hotelroyalsingi.com/ - which had a really up-market feel and is (just) in your price range at their listed rates - and you could maybe get cheaper rates through one of the web-based agencies.

It was within walking distance of the Thamel district and a cheap taxi ride to other attractions, like Bodhnath.

Take flight from SFO to New-Work and then New work to Bangkonk to Kathmandu. about the hotel there is lots of hotel in kathmandu with different catagories and price. you may consult with some of trekking agency for your bus ticket from Kathmandu to Butwal.

Best way from SFO to KTM would definitely NOT be through New York. Connect through Bangkok (BKK) and you have choices with THAI or Royal Nepal. If you can get a good fare to India...then take a round trip to India and find a cheap connection from India to KTM. You will save A LOT of dough :)

More expensive but fastest route:

-SFO to LAX (find a cheap round trip ticket from the beginning to end of your trip.

-LAX to BKK nonstop Thai Air flight (TG 794 or 795)

-Thai Air flight from BKK to KTM

Also give Jet Airways (www.jetairways.com) a call. They have a toll free number for the USA on their contact page as they dont quote Kathmandu flights on the net for some reason. Try and find a good price round trip to Kolkata or Delhi, and take a round trip from there for under $250 US possibly.

Your best bet would be tofly from San Francisco to Bankok-Calcutta-Kathmadu or SFO-BKK-Kathmandu. or fly Singapore Air to Singapore-BKK-Kathmandu
