Hi all
hoping to get some good advice from you guys.
I%26#39;m going to Nepal to do some voluntary work this Autumn. I%26#39;ll be working in Jitpur for two months between beginning of September to mid/end Oct.
At the end of my trip my partner will join me and we will travel together for a period of around 11 days.
First we will sped around 2 day in Jitpur, then I%26#39;d like to see Kathmandu, after that Chitwan and after that Phokara. It is a very vague plan and we know so little about the region.
Please give us some advice on what to see/do and where to go if you have that amount of time (11 days).
Thanks you!
trip planning for Oct 2008
Hi!
Me and my wife made our first Nepal holiday and trek this spring - and it was extremely positive. This encourages me to give a few advices:
- Chitwan - very nice (standard package, 2 nights)
- trek from Pokhara : Gorepani - Poon Hill -
Annapurna Base Camp (doable if you feel fit; if
you are not sure ar don%26#39;t want to hurry, do only
Gorepani-PoonHill)
- if you have spare day, spend it in Bhaktapur (near
Kathmandu), beautiful medieval city
- take guide/porter or both; it is relatively small
money and very good help and company, especially
when you have little time; can reccommend our%26#39;s:
Bashu, bashuac@gmail.com - nice and helpful
guide with good English.
Have a good time. If you%26#39;ll need more details, you
can PM me.
Michael.
trip planning for Oct 2008
since you are going to spend a heck lot a time in Nepal as a volunteer, you will get all the required informations then. But if you want to get the immediate informations and plan your trip accordingly, I recommend you to contact Bishwa Chapagain, an expert trekking advisor having more than a decade of experience, from clan treks and expedition website. The site solely can satisfy your informative desire. Have a nice holiday. cheers

IN 2 months you shall get all the desired information and details for your trip without any guide and professional help . where you shall work you shall meet people who shall be willing to give you all the details and help you have a successful trip . so dont worry just get some info in the internet as to what you are interested and then when you are in nepal get your plans finalised .
I had a friend of mine here in france who did the same thing . so dont worry . just relax , where you shall work ,there shall be people who will help you finalise it all .
instead of chitwan i would suggest Royal Bardia National Park its more natural rather then tourist attraction like chitwan . but its ones preference , so just try to find more info .
about the trek well annnapurna would be best I hope as to the limited days , well rest you can find out yourself.
have a great trip . need more info post here in forum
Hi,
I think Michael has given great advice. A trek is essential and Gorepani-Poon Hill is a short trek, maybe 4-5 days return at a guess, that offers a view of some mighty mountains if the weather is good.
Last Oct we trekked Annapurna Base camp(11 days) and return again to do Everest/Cho La Pass/ Goyko Lakes(17 days)this year with a side trip to Chitwan.
We booked all our trekking direct with a Nepalese company, cost us half of booking in Australia as it cuts out the middle man.
My best advice would be do a private trek. It was just me, my husband and a porter and sherpa. It was well worth the extra few dollars to be in control and go at our own pace instead of with a group. You will meet plenty of fellow trekkers along the way. Also a Teahouse trek is the way to go. By the end of the day you need your own bed to fall into and a warm spot around the fire inside. We looked at camping groups freezing outside in the cold and were glad we did a teahouse trek.
Personally I think a day or two in KTM and Pokhora is enough as the highlight is by far the mountain trekking. Cheers, Donna
