Our first trip on an organised tour. What jabs do we need? Also will we have any problems with mosquitoes whilst there? We fly out from England in late october and then return home in second week in novemeber. We would like to know what sort of weather to expect. We are visiting the ususaltouris spots of katmandu Pokahra and chitwan nat park. Any help in planning our trip would be apreciated.

Hi Graney,
The weather will be lovely. In KTM expect to be able to wear shorts and Tshirt with daytimes sunny and about 20-25 degrees celcius. But of course if trekking the higher you go the colder it gets. We did Annapurna Base Camp last Oct and wore short sleeves walking but by evening required thermals and down jackets.
The mozzies are not a problem in the cities and higher mountainous areas but in Chitwan in the summer they are. However we are going back to do Everest base camp this year with a side trip to Chitwan and according to all Ive researched the mozzies are not around in Nov. According to the KTM medical sites Ive looked up Malaria has not been a problem for tourists since a big eradication program some years back. Prevention is the best~ sleep under nets, wear tropical grade repellant and long sleeves and pants at night. I will not be taking malaria tablets but if you wish to put your mind at ease maybe you should. Be aware they make you very photo sensitive and you must be careful of the sun.
Regarding jabs~ We have travelled extensively in asia and have had Hep A, B, Tetanus and Typhoid. Typhoid tablets or a jab are a must to stop food poisoning. Best to see your Dr. Also its easy to research on the net. Cheers, Donna
