EBC trek end of august Looking for trekking partner

Hi everyone, I will be doing the EBC trek in the end of August (yeah, I realize it%26#39;s not the best time to go, but I am leaving my job then so it%26#39;s the only time that will work) and I am looking for a few tips:

1- Temperatures during the trek and EBC

2- Clothing during the day trek (shorts or pants)

3- Laundry, should I plan on doing some laundry every night?

4- Looking for a trekking partner (?) worth it or not? (I have a guide and porter)

Any other tips are welcome

EBC trek end of august Looking for trekking partner

Hello. I did the EBC trail in April of this year and can only say that temps varied greatly. It was quite warm in Kathmandu and I wished I had shorts with me. As you go higher in elevation, it cools slightly and layers were required, eventually requiring down jackets for Kala pattar. Be prepared for anything! It can get cold at night, but August may be much warmer than April.

As for clothing, I think the best gear are the zip-off trekking pants. You can do laundry when you arrive in Namche, but that is early in the trek (if you fly to Lukla) and not much will be dirty yet. After Namche, I do not recall seeing anyplace to do laundry, but I did not look for it. We really did not have time to do laundry anyways and were too tired to care. Showering can be a challenge as well, so we just resigned ourselves to being somewhat dirty and using baby wipes to clean daily.

You can find a partner, but you will meet many people along the way and make friends rather quickly with those in the same situation. I hiked with just a guide and we became great friends, but I made other acquaintances along the way and we shared stories each day.

Please feel free to send me a message if you have any other specific questions.

  1. Hey! I want to do the EBC trek this August as well. I could use a trekking partner. Do you mind? I'm 23 yr male from Canada. Easy going :)
