Visum Expiring during stay

Hiya,

In August I am going for my physiotherapy internship for 4 months to Nepal...but my Visum is only valid for 60 days! I am told that you can extend your visum in Nepal..but how does this work?

And another thing: is it necessary to bring a mosquito net? (I am saying either with a host family or in cheap hostels).

Many thanks

Kirsten

Visum Expiring during stay

You can renew your visa several times for an additional 30 days at a time. There is an office in Kathmandu, and I believe there is one in Pokhara as well.

When you go to renew your visa, take a passport-sized photo (there are lots of shops in Kathmandu that will print off a sheet of photos--they come in handy for various tourist passes as well), and the equivalent of US$30 in rupees (bring some smaller notes). You fill out a form and give them your passport and money. You will need to return a few hours later to pick up your passport.

Mosquitoes weren%26#39;t really a problem when we were in Nepal, but it likely depends where you will be located and the time of year.

Visum Expiring during stay

Your visa can be extended from only two places, Kathmandu and Pokhara. Visit the office nearest to where you will be doing your internship. You can not exceed your stay in a tourist visa from 150 days in a year (January to December).

As for the mosquito nets, I think you need one during August almost everywhere you go but it is not necessary for you to bring one. There are plenty of varieties of nets available at a very cheap rates. (Rs. 200 - 300).
