Everesr Base Camp

I%26#39;ve not trekked in The Himalayas before, but have a long standing ambition to go to Everest Base Camp.

However, lookinng at photograpghs of the Himalayas this area seems to have the least atractive scenery.

Can I have some comments and perhaps suggestions from experienced Himalayan trekkers?

Thanks

Everesr Base Camp

Hi

Although EBC itself is not that great, the trek to it and around it is amongst the most breathtaking scenery I have ever seen. The mountains are amazing and the trek takes you from quite alpine scenery amongst gorges and forests up to amazing glaciers and passes. Some people prefer Annapurna which is also amazing, but for me the Everest region is the best. I also went to Mustang which is very different scenery - more arid - but I would return to Everest over other regions.

The area I would love to go to, as I have heard good reviews, is Dolpo.

Honestly - Everest will knock your socks off!

You have to go! It is one of the most fantastic experiences I have been on. There is nothing better than gettig up close and personal with the big girl.

I agree with the other post in the fact its pretty barren when you get there but what an experience gettig there! The trek up is just fantastic and Namche was just amazing (apple pie whilst listening to Country music - surreal!)

My Husband and I went with Safe Journeys in December 2007 for our Honeymoon.

The trip was fantastic and very well organised. The owner (Richard - based in Scotland) came on the trek with you and has such a passion for the Nepalese you just can%26#39;t help but fall in love with the place and the people.

Throughout the guides were great and all hand picked by Richard. He has been using the same guides for a few years so they are reliable. His Company was used by Ben Fogle for his Adventure programme and the porters/guides you saw were the ones we had.

He also organises free treking in Scotland so you can meet the group you will be going with. Now you can%26#39;t get better than that!

100% recommended....
