Shanghai - Kathmandu (and back) - how?

We are planning a trek in Nepal (Kathmandu) but

the starting point of the trip is Shanghai.

How can we get to Kathmandu - within reasonable

time and price?

By now, the cheapest way I%26#39;ve found is by flight from Lhasa, but it looks too comlpicated (visas, permits etc.) .

Please, any ideas?
