Safety

Nepal is pretty safe for foreigners.

The biggest problem during periods of political instability is getting from place to place.

Nepalese protests usually take the form of a bandh which is a kind of enforced strike. People who break the strike may have problems from the strikers but they would not directly cause you problems.

Transport is often affected with road blocks and stoning of vehicles that try to break through, often the road block is a symbolic burning tyre and often the whole thing is very low key. You just can%26#39;t travel from place to place unless you fly.

Everytime I have been to Nepal there has been a bandh at some point or another.

I even managed to appear on the front page of Nepali Rising protesting against the war in Iraq outside the British Embassy in 2003.
