Hyatt too far?

Hi, how far by taxi is the Hyatt to Thamel? I am going to a wedding at the Radisson so would like recommendations whether to stay at the Radisson, Shankar or Hyatt.

Thanks a lot.

Hyatt too far?

Hi there;

Actually you shouldn%26#39;t worry.

Taxi%26#39;s are very cheap in Nepal, so before and after the party you just take one in the street or ask at the radisson to arrange you one for your drive back to your hotel.

Can%26#39;t be easier.

Have a good trip, feel free to drop me a line back if you need more info%26#39;s.

grtz,

Frank / Netherlands.

Hyatt too far?

Bubs:

I agree with Frank - taxi%26#39;s will be a good option. We were pleased with our 10/2006 Hyatt stay. Try to get on a club floor if you can. Also it%26#39;s closer to and from the airport. Nice mountain views from the upper floors if the weather is clear. Also close to the Bodnath (sp.) stupa. Have a nice trip.

Frank/Blue Phantom,

Thanks for the reply. So how long would it take in the taxi from Hyatt to Thamel? I%26#39;m just concerned it would be a bit out of the way and for our first trip to Kathmandu it might be better to stay amongst it all. What do you think?

Hi;

I think one important factor is that you%26#39;ll feel at home very soon after arrival.

Nepali people are very friendly.

Now the taxi; i guess it will be late when you drive back, so there will be very little [hardly no] traffic on the roads so i guess your trip won%26#39;t take too long, around 15 -20 min.

BTW you asked about 3 hotels, i%26#39;d choose the best price as they are all3 very good.

Many kind greetings,

Frank.

Of course get price first, locals at the hotel can give you a good estimate what to pay. They seldom use meters. Cost is higher now with petrol shortages, and oftentimes you have to pay more for a night taxi.

Oh yes. The Hyatt is really out of the way for most things, except Boudha of course, and except for the stupa, the area is really quite ugly and congested. But everything happens around Thamel and Durbar Marg. The Radisson is very nice and more centrally located for walking around. It would be my recommendation for your Kathmandu stay out of the three you mentioned. Of course, there are other nice places in the same price range.
